State Police troopers from the Wappinger barrack stopped Bronx resident Brandon Burgess at approximately 11 a.m. on Thursday morning in Fishkill after he committed a violation of vehicle and traffic law.

During the subsequent traffic stop, troopers said that Burgess was found to have a suspended license and was also in possession of an illegally loaded handgun.

Troopers arrested Burgess at the scene and he was charged with a misdemeanor count of third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony. He was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond. Burgess is due back in the Town of Fishkill Court later this year to answer the charges.
